Priddy Sheep Fair 2008
“A traditional Fair in the heart of the Mendips”

August 2008 (post fair)

The 660th Priddy Sheep Fair had a good mainly dry day. Thousands of visitors, 800 sheep, assorted dead stock and horses turned out to enjoy and carry on the long standing Mendip tradition. The foot and mouth outbreak that cancelled last years Fair did not affect attendance with sheep, dead stock and general public although horse numbers were down on previous years. There were no major incidences and everything ran smoothly on the day (although we had tractors on standby after the forecast!).

The committee would like to thank all who gave up their time to help which makes the Fair possible. Thanks must also go to the emergency services on-site the police for their help, advice and friendly presence and Avon and Somerset Cliff Rescue for liaison between all parties and St.Johns. Lastly a big thank you to all who attended the event in whichever way and the local community as without your support we could not continue to run the Fair!
